Eric Scheidler to Receive Caritas Award

( Chicago , Ill. ) -- Project Love, a division of Illinois Citizens for Life Charitable Trust, will hold a benefit breakfast at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 29, at the Naperville Country Club, 25W570 Chicago Ave. , Naperville, Ill. Tickets are $20 and reservations (required) may be obtained by calling Mary at (630) 852-5448 or Eileen at (630) 963-8039.

Periodically, the Project Love committee awards its “Caritas” (Love) Award to a person for outstanding service in defense of all human life. Eric Scheidler, the communications director of the Pro-Life Action League and leader of the opposition to Planned Parenthood in Aurora , will receive this very special award at the breakfast. Heading up the League’s Aurora office, Scheidler has spent countless hours in organizing and energizing Aurora citizens and surrounding communities to stand up against the killing of unborn children by Planned Parenthood.

Project Love, based in Downers Grove , Ill. , provides financial aid to pregnant women and new mothers in need. Over the past 13 years, it has given more than 700 grants on behalf of women throughout the state of Illinois . Public and private organizations working with women refer those in a financial crisis to Project Love. After screening, a check is sent to the woman’s creditor to help pay a bill.

Various fundraisers organized by the Project Love committee help pay for the grants they provide. Their upcoming breakfast is their latest offering to raise money, and all are invited. New committee members are always welcome as well.

About Pro-Life Action League

Pro-Life Action League was founded by Joseph M. Scheidler in 1980 with the aim of saving unborn children through non-violent direct action. Through prayer vigils outside abortion facilities and sidewalk counseling, the League reaches out to abortion-bound women and couples with abortion alternatives, confidential counseling and access to pregnancy resources.

Since July 2007, the League has been at the center of the controversy surrounding Planned Parenthood’s flagship abortion facility in Aurora , Ill. , dubbed, “Ground Zero” of the abortion battle by abortion supporters and opponents alike. The League has closed eight abortion clinics in Chicago alone and nearly a hundred across the country.

The Pro-Life Action League is a nonprofit organization, supported solely by private donations. For more information, visit

President Obama is Keeping His Promises

Since Inauguration Day, President Obama has kept many of the promises he made during his campaign. Here are the things he has already done, in the short time between Nov. ‘08 and Mar. 17, ‘09, which shows he really does prioritize:

11/5/2008- Obama selects pro-abortion Rep. Rahm Emanuel as his White House Chief of Staff. Emanuel has a 0% pro-life voting record according to National Right to Life.

11/19/2008 - Obama picks pro-abortion former Sen. Tom Daschle as his Health and Human Services Secretary. Daschle has a long pro-abortion voting record according to National Right to Life. He is a lapsed Catholic. Thankfully, he withdrew his nomination when it was disclosed he cheated on his taxes.

11/20/2008 - Obama chooses former NARAL legal director Dawn Johnsen to serve as a member of his Department of Justice Review Team. Later, he finalizes her appointment as the Assistant Attorney General for the Office of the Legal Counsel in the Obama administration.

11/24/2008 - Obama appoints Ellen Moran, the former director of the pro-abortion group Emily's List as his White House communications director. Emily's List only supported candidates who favored taxpayer funded abortions and opposed a partial-birth abortion ban.

11/24/2008 - Obama puts former Emily's List board member Melody Barnes in place as his director of the Domestic Policy Council.

11/30/2008 - Obama named pro-abortion Sen. Hillary Clinton as the Secretary of State. Clinton has an unblemished pro-abortion voting record and has supported making unlimited abortions an international right.

12/10/2008 - Obama selects pro-abortion former Clinton administration official Jeanne Lambrew to become the deputy director of the White House Office of Health Reform. Planned Parenthood is "excited" about the selection.

12/10/2008 - Obama transition team publishes memo from dozens of pro-abortion groups listing their laundry list of pro-abortions actions they want him to take.

1/5/2009 - Obama picks pro-abortion Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine as the chairman of the Democratic Party.

1/6/2009 - Obama chooses Thomas Perrelli, the lawyer who represented Terri Schiavo’s husband Michael in his efforts to kill his disabled wife, as the third highest attorney in the Justice Department.

1/22/2009 - Releases statement restating support for Roe v. Wade decision that allowed virtually unlimited abortions and has resulted in at least 50 million abortions since 1973.

1/23/2009 - Forces taxpayers to fund pro-abortion groups that either promote or perform abortions in other nations. Decison to overturn Mexico City Policy sends part of $457 million to pro-abortion organizations.

1/26/2009 - Obama nominee for Deputy Secretary of State, James B. Steinberg, tells members of the Senate that taxpayers should be forced to fund abortions. Nominee erroneously says limits on abortion funding are unconstitutional.

1/29/2009 - President Obama nominates pro-abortion David Ogden as Deputy Attorney General.

2/12/2009 - Obama nominates pro-abortion Elena Kagan to serve as Solicitor General.

2/27/2009 - Starts the process of overturning pro-life conscience protections President Bush put in place to make sure medical staff and centers are not forced to do abortions.

2/28/2009 - Barack Obama nominates pro-abortion Kathleen Sebelius to become Secretary of Health and Human Services. She is confirmed.

3/5/2009 - The Obama administration shut out pro-life groups from attending a White House-sponsored health care summit. Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion business, made the invitation list as did other pro-abortion groups.

3/9/2009 - President Barack Obama signed an executive order forcing taxpayer funding of embryonic stem cell research.

3/10/2009 - Obama announces the creation of a new foreign policy position to focus on women's issues. He names Melanne Verveer, an abortion advocate, to occupy the post.

3/10/2009 - Reverses an executive order to press for more research into ways of obtaining embryonic stem cells without harming human life. The order Obama scrapped would have promoted new forms of stem cell research.

3/11/2009 - Obama signed an executive order establishing a new agency within his administration known as the White House Council on Women and Girls. Obama's director of public liaison at the White House, Tina Tchen, an abortion advocate, became director of it.

3/11/2009 - Obama administration promotes an unlimited right to abortion at a United Nations meeting.

3/11/2009 - Obama administration officials deny negative effects of abortion at United Nation's meeting.

3/17/2009 - President Barack Obama makes his first judicial appointment and names pro-abortion federal Judge David Hamilton to serve on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

We must pray more, and place all our hope in Jesus and work as if our lives depended on it...they do! Let’s not forget Jesus’ warning from St Matthew: "Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves" (Matt. 7:15).

Weekend of Injustice in Oakland

Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., commented today on the shooting of four Oakland police officers and the jailing of an Oakland pro-life activist last Friday.

"Four Oakland policemen were gunned down over the weekend while serving as protectors of human life," said Dr. King. "They will be forever heroes, victims of injustice. Only hours before they were struck down, however, another hero who tried to protect the innocent, Rev. Walter Hoye, was to a much lesser extent a victim of injustice as well.

"Rev. Hoye now sits in jail for the so-called crime of asking women if he could talk to them about abortion," added Dr. King. "He is a gentle, loving man who will be incarcerated for 30 days merely for telling pregnant women that Jesus loves them and their babies. There's no comparing the plight of Rev. Hoye with the loss of four police officers, but as my uncle Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.' In Oakland, it was a horrible weekend for justice and for those who protect life."

Message from Catholic Vote

Dear Member,

Like many of you, we received the news last Friday that President Barack Obama will deliver the commencement address at the University of Notre Dame this May.

In addition to delivering the address, the President will receive an honorary doctor of laws degree. In short, one of our nation’s premier Catholic institutions will honor the President, and hold out him as an example to its students as someone worthy of emulation!

Given President Obama’s utterly shameful record on life, how could a Catholic university honor him?

The University could have politely and quietly told the White House that their standing invitation to the President of the United States was not available this year. Better yet, they could have said that while they would welcome his contributions to the public debate over how to solve our economic crisis, his regrettable policies in favor of a culture of death make it impossible for them to welcome him.

Notre Dame has regrettably hosted pro-abortion speakers in the past, but President Obama is a champion of the abortion cause.

Sadly, it is now indisputable that our President has become the world’s leading promoter of abortion, embryo-killing cloning and research, taxpayer-funded abortion, and a vigorous opponent of conscience protections for medical professionals. His campaign promises to find ‘common ground’ have sadly been ignored, or perhaps were simply lies. And this Administration has only just begun.

Is there anything a president could do that would disqualify him or her from delivering such a prestigious address?

If there is such a threshold, Barack Obama has not disqualified himself with Notre Dame officials.

And so we must act.

We have spoken with professors, students, and leaders at Notre Dame over the past 48 hours and have concluded that a massive protest will be practically difficult, and even counterproductive. The University has a right as a private school to prevent all protesters from entering campus, and could legally arrest those who violate this rule. Secondly, a protest could create exactly the wrong impression.

Therefore, we are recommending four courses of action.

1) has partnered with the Cardinal Newman Society, a dynamic organization dedicated to the renewal of Catholic higher education in establishing Notre Dame Scandal. Together our aim is to collect thousands of signatures and present them to University officials. Sign the petition now.

2) Contact Notre Dame and charitably express your outrage. is large enough to have a major impact, and we urge you to contact Notre Dame President Father Jenkins at (574) 631-5000.

3) Join your fellow members in a prayer of reparation on May 17 from 2-4 PM. We encourage you to organize local groups to pray for mercy for the decision by Notre Dame, but also for our nation for continuing to permit the tragedy of abortion.

***If you live in the Midwest, or near Notre Dame University, we invite you to personally join us in prayer at the Grotto on the campus of Notre Dame from 2-4 PM on May 17, where we will be joined by several Notre Dame professors, alumni, and current students. The gathering will be a peaceful and prayerful.

4) Please forward this message to your family and friends. Let them know about Notre Dame's decision to honor the most pro-abortion President in American history. We must not remain silent over this scandal!

Group Prayer News Release 40 Days for Life Honolulu

Today is Day 28 of our 40-day spring campaign, and so far, 211 lives have been saved from death by abortion. The families of these children have been spared the spiritual, emotional, and physical consequences that abortion brings as well. That is tremendous news for which we thank the Lord!

As I write this, however, the site of our current public prayer vigil, Planned Parenthood, is open for business six days a week, providing surgical abortions and the abortion pill to women and minor girls. They profit from human misery and death, knowing that their clientele is largely ignorant of the fact that abortion doesn't solve problems, it only creates new and more numerous ones. It doesn't have to be that way.

In an effort to raise awareness and share the healing and hope available through Christ, we are calling a group prayer assembly this Saturday from 10:00-noon. The 40 Days for Life Honolulu planning team and the Bound4Life O'ahu chapter have joined forces and will be praying during this time. An announcement of this event may be found here, which we encourage you to share:

Individuals, churches, and groups are urged to join us in prayer during this time. With your participation, this could be the largest pro-life prayer event ever in Hawai'i! Just imagine...both sides of King Street filled with families petitioning Heaven on behalf of the unborn. Lives are at stake--set aside your normal personal business to watch and pray during this time, if only for one hour (Matthew 26:40).

For the unborn, Lord hear our prayers....

Abortion chain owner's family died in MT cemetery plane crash - near Tomb of the Unborn

Some of you may have seen the major news story of the private plane that crashed into a Montana cemetery, killing 7 children and 7 adults.

But what the news sources fail to mention is... the [cemetery] contains... the Tomb of the Unborn... erected as a dedication to all babies who have died because of abortion.

What else is the mainstream news not telling you? The family who died in the crash near the location of the abortion victim's memorial, is the family of Irving 'Bud' Feldkamp, owner of the largest for-profit abortion chain in the nation....

Reproductive justice focus of conference

By Zenaida Serrano
Advertiser Staff Writer

Reproductive justice exists when all citizens have the economic, social and political power and resources to make healthy decisions about their bodies, sexuality and reproduction for themselves, their families and their communities, say organizers of an event this weekend.

Learn more about reproductive justice at Fertile Grounds for Reproductive Justice Convening, tomorrow through Sunday at Kapi'olani Community College. The conference is presented by the Women's Fund of Hawai'i, a grant-making foundation dedicated to supporting women and girls in Hawai'i.

Organizers hope the conference will raise awareness in the community in the area of reproductive justice, and hope particularly to reach out to those who may be interested in applying for a Fertile Grounds for Reproductive Justice grant in the fall, said Adria Estribou, executive director of the Women's Fund of Hawai'i.

The event is for "anyone who's passionate about reproductive justice and curious about what the current issues are in Hawai'i," Estribou said.

The conference includes discussions on rights of pregnant women, sexuality control and the right to be a parent. There will also be a presentation on building skills in planning organizing or advocacy activities by Expanding the Movement for Empowerment and Reproductive Justice, a program of Asian Communities for Reproductive Justice.

Those who cannot attend but want to support reproductive justice grantmaking can make a donation to the Fertile Grounds for Reproductive Justice campaign (see box for contact information). All donations will be matched by the Tides Foundation; 100 percent of all donations will go toward reproductive justice grantmaking in Hawai'i.

Stem-cell debate isn’t about science

As President Obama lifted restrictions on federal funding of stem-cell research March 9, he defended "letting scientists do their jobs, free from manipulation or coercion, and listening to what they tell us, even when it's inconvenient." Obama contrasts his approach with that of his predecessor, who many say allowed ideology to outweigh science in government decisions. But Obama is wrong, in three ways. H/T Why Mommy is a Republican

He Threw it All Away

"Richard’s politics changed precisely because his principles did not change.”
In the early 1970s, Lutheran pastor Richard John Neuhaus was poised to become the nation’s next great liberal public intellectual—the Reinhold Niebuhr of his generation. He had going for him everything he needed to be not merely accepted but lionized by the liberal establishment. First, of course, there were his natural gifts as a thinker, writer, and speaker. Then there was a set of left-liberal credentials that were second to none. He had been an outspoken and prominent civil rights campaigner, indeed, someone who had marched literally arm-in-arm with his friend Martin Luther King. He had founded one of the most visible anti-Vietnam war organizations. He moved easily in elite circles and was regarded by everyone as a “right-thinking” (i.e., left-thinking) intellectual-activist operating within the world of mainline Protestant religion.

Then something happened: Abortion...

Dr. Bernard Nathanson's Prolife Conversion

Dr. Nathanson
...Nathanson was a key member of NARAL, the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws, a group in the US dedicated to making abortion legal in the US. I first encountered Nathanson when reading about the Silent Scream, a video that he produced in 1984 when he filmed a suction abortion. The results of that video caused the doctor who performed the abortion to cease doing abortions altogether and the person who edited the tape later withdrew from all public work; both were so affected by the experience. Nathanson himself took a while longer to form his decision to reject abortion. Being a man of no faith, he approached this completely from a scientific perspective, and over a period of a few years, he came to the conclusion that abortion did in fact end the life of a human being. He states that it was the emergence of ultrasound technology that brought about his conclusion that the unborn were human beings...

How Bitter the Irony

"How bitter the irony of those who promote abortion as a form of 'maternal' health care! How disconcerting the claim that the termination of life is a matter of reproductive health!"

"Particularly disturbing is the crushing yoke of discrimination that women and girls so often endure, not to mention the unspeakable practice of sexual violence and exploitation which causes such humiliation and trauma."
