Do you know Joe?

Do you know Joe?

imageDO YOU KNOW ME?

Who in the world is "JOE"?

Joe's the boyfriend, husband or father of a young pregnant woman who says, "I'm pregnant" and then pressures her into an abortion. As a result, annually over 650,000 men when told by the most important women in their lives, "I'm pregnant" out of fear, will pressure women into having an abortion and ending the life of their unborn child.

Pro-Life Leaders Launch Opposition to Senate Health Bill Following Nelson Amendment Demise

By Kathleen Gilbert

WASHINGTON, D.C., December 9, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Following the defeat of the Nelson/Hatch/Casey amendment Tuesday evening, pro-life leaders are calling on senators to oppose the Senate health care bill as it heads towards a final vote, which lawmakers expect will happen before the end of the year.

The Senate voted 54-45 Tuesday evening to table the Nelson/Hatch/Casey amendment, effectively killing the language that would have applied Hyde-amendment restrictions on federal funding of abortion to the health care overhaul. The "tabling" vote allowed Democrats to do away with the Nelson amendment without the 60 votes needed to overcome a GOP filibuster of cloture for the amendment.

The vote came after hours of debate on the Senate floor, with alternating Democrat and Republican speeches at loggerheads as to whether the bill's original abortion language represented adequate protections, as pro-abortion lawmakers claimed, or a vast expansion of abortion, as pro-life lawmakers claimed. Pro-abortion senators also argued that the Nelson/Hatch/Casey amendment was discriminatory against women, and violated women's right to privacy.

Yet pro-life senators maintained earlier Tuesday that the bill's phony "compromise" language on abortion masked a fundamental shift on federal policy regarding elective abortion funding, and called on their compatriots to oppose the bill should the Nelson amendment fail.

"For pro-life senators, this is the vote, but it doesn't stop here," said Sen. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.). "Even if this amendment doesn't pass, I want to make the case that this bill should not go forward, because it literally will create a system ... to finance abortions. And I don't believe that's what this country wants." Full article.

Pastor Rick Warren: Obama's Plan to Make Abortion "Legal" and "Rare" Contradictory

By Peter J. Smith

LOS ANGELES, December 10, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Prominent evangelical Pastor Rick Warren and author of the immensely popular book, "Purpose Driven Life," says that he prays for President Barack Obama as he addresses the nation's economic crisis and health-care reform. However, he says the president's position on keeping abortion "rare" actually depends on the contradictory premise that all life begins at conception.

Warren made his comments during a Nov. 29 appearance on Meet the Press, saying that 36 years of legal abortion since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision has created a real "holocaust."

"We've had 46 million Americans who aren't here. Those who could be here since Roe v. Wade, who are not voting," said Warren. "I think that innocence is a holocaust."

Warren said that it is true that Americans need "to get beyond the name calling and find common ground." However, he said he did not comprehend how such "common ground" could be achieved by keeping abortion unrestricted and at the same time engaging in efforts to make it "rare and less."

"Well, either you believe it's life or you don't," said Warren. "Why would you believe it should be rare?"

"If a baby, a fetus is not a life, then why restrict it?" queried Warren rhetorically. Full article.

News Release: Evidence of Counseling Abuse at Planned Parenthood Continues to Surface in Undercover Student Video

Appleton, December 9 -- New undercover footage from an Appleton, WI Planned Parenthood abortion clinic shows clinic staff, including the abortion doctor, lying to two young women about fetal development and encouraging the one who is pregnant to obtain an abortion because "women die having babies."

In the undercover video, when the two women ask a Planned Parenthood counselor if the pregnant woman's 10-week-old unborn child has a heartbeat, the counselor emphasizes "heart tones," and answers, "Heart beat is when the fetus is active in the uterus--can survive--which is about seventeen or eighteen weeks." On the contrary, embryologists agree that the heartbeat begins around 3 weeks. Wisconsin informed consent law requires that women receive medically accurate information before undergoing an abortion.

The counselor then says, "A fetus is what's in the uterus right now. That is not a baby." Dr. Prohaska, the abortion doctor, insists, "It's not a baby at this stage or anything like that." Prohaska also states that having an abortion will be "much safer than having a baby," warning, "You know, women die having babies."

The video comes one month after the widely reported resignation of Planned Parenthood clinic director Abby Johnson. Johnson left her leadership position at Planned Parenthood in Bryan, TX after watching a 13-week old fetus being aborted in her clinic on ultrasound. She said during a recent interview, "Planned Parenthood really tries to instill in their employees and the women that are coming in for abortions that this is not a baby." In another interview, she noted, "They don't want to talk about when your baby has a heartbeat," because "they don't want to give the woman information that could give her a connection with her baby."

The investigation is organized by Live Action, a nonprofit student group. Lila Rose, the 21-year-old UCLA student and Live Action president, says medical lies and manipulative counseling are routine at Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion chain.

"They will do or say anything in order to sell more abortions to more women, whether it is covering up sexual abuse or lying to women about medical facts," says Rose. "Our team has visited dozens of Planned Parenthood clinics undercover. Planned Parenthood, while claiming to support patient self-determination, operates with an 'abortion-first mentality.'"

The video is the first in Live Action's "Rosa Acuna Project," a multi-state undercover audit documenting Planned Parenthood's abortion counseling. Planned Parenthood has come under fire recently after Live Action's investigations found them willing to conceal sexual abuse and accept donations targeted to abort African-Americans only. Videos of abuse cover-up prompted state investigations of Planned Parenthood and diversion of the abortion giant's public subsidies.

"Planned Parenthood is a billion-dollar organization with nearly $350 million of government funding, and stands to gain hundreds of millions more from national health care," says Rose. "Do we really want to subsidize an organization that gives women in need atrocious misinformation and predatory abortion practices?"

REPORT: SENATORS GET MORE MONEY FROM PRO-ABORTION THAN PRO-LIFE GROUPS

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- There may be a good explanation as to why the Senate voted earlier this week to keep the massive taxpayer funding of abortion in the Senate government-run health care bill. A new report shows they receive more campaign money from pro-abortion groups than pro-life organizations. Read more.

House Approves Omnibus Spending Bill That Funds Abortions in Nation's Capital

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The House of Representatives on Thursday approved an omnibus spending bill that would overturn a decades-long policy preventing taxpayer funding of abortions in the nation's capital. One pro-life group suggests overturning the policy could increase abortions by as much as 1,000 a year.

The Dornan Amendment has prevented the federal government from paying for abortions in the District of Columbia, whose budget is overseen by Congress.

But the omnibus spending bill, a collection of appropriations bills needed to fund the federal government, includes language overturning the amendment.

House members approved the omnibus bill on a vote of 221-202-1 despite calls from pro-life groups to oppose the legislation because of the taxpayer funding of abortion.

No Republicans voted for the measure and 28 Democrats were concerned enough about the abortion funding (or other issues) to vote against the measure as well. A survey of the Democrats voting against the measure reveals many who have longstanding pro-life voting records.

The omnibus bill now heads to the Senate, where 35 pro-life lawmakers have already said they plan to filibuster the bill because of the abortion funding. Read more.

House Omnibus Bill Could Overturn Pro-Life Laws on Tax-Funded Abortions

House Omnibus Bill Could Overturn Pro-Life Laws on Tax-Funded Abortions

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- In the debate on abortion funding in health care, backers of amendments to stop the funding say the health care bill should conform to other laws. However, the House this week could vote on an omnibus appropriations bill that could overturn multiple laws banning taxpayer funded abortions. Read more.

Light a Candle....

In Hawaii, thousands of children have lost their lives to abortion, their voices silenced without the chance to be heard. The March for Life on January 22, 2010 will feature luminaries to serve as a silent witness in remembrance of their lives. (Luminaries are small paper bags with lights inside.)

Our goal is to place 1,000 luminaries that will light up Hawaii State Capitol grounds. Immediately following the march, a brief memorial ceremony will also be conducted at the Capitol Rotunda.

For a suggested donation of just $5 each, you can order luminaries to commemorate lives ended by abortion and support our local pro-life pregnancy resource centers so that other lives may be saved.

With your support, we can be a light for the world and show our respect for those who have been lost to abortion in Hawaii.
