Unborn babies feel pain, protected in Nebraska

Nebraska signThe Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, Nebraska's fetal pain bill, was passed by the Nebraska legislature this April and will go into effect October 15.

"From that point forward in Nebraska, babies at 20-weeks gestation and beyond may not be aborted due to the medical documentation, which shows that babies at 20 weeks are capable of feeling pain," explains Nebraska Right to Life spokesperson Julie Schmit-Albin.

Julie AlbinThat means well-known late-term abortionist Leroy Carhart, who is located just outside Omaha, will be legally thwarted from continuing his work. Also, with successful passage of the Nebraska law, other states are considering passage of similar legislation. Read more
