Action Alert: protect healthcare conscience rights

The Obama administration is about to get rid of the federal regulation protecting conscience rights in healthcare. They want to force all healthcare professionals to participate in abortions, prescribe life-ending pills and take part in other controversial actions. Visit to tell Congress and the President that you OPPOSE this violation of healthcare workers' Constitutional rights, which will ultimately harm patient care!

Legislative Action Alert

On January 12, the U.S. House of Representatives plans to vote on H.R.2 which would repeal the Obama Health Care Law, under which Americans who could be saved will die because they can be prevented from using their own money to avoid involuntary denial of life-saving medical treatment.

URGENT! Please contact pro-life Representatives from your state. Urge them not only to vote to repeal the Obama Healthcare Law but also to speak out in debate about its rationing! Although repeal is expected to be blocked in the U.S. Senate in this Congress, it is critical that Representatives be educated about the rationing reasons to repeal the law and in turn help educate the public.

Call the attention of the Representatives or their aides with whom you speak to .

This simply, but with full documentation, explains the rationing elements of the law and may be used as a source for floor statements or at least “extensions of remarks.” Key points:

1. You don’t want bureaucrats in Washington (the Department of Health and Human Services, based on recommendations by the Independent Payment Advisory Board)to dictate what treatment your doctor or hospital can – and can’t – give you through so-called “quality and efficiency measures.”

2. In order to protect senior citizens’ lives, we must ensure their right to get unrationed medical care under Medicare. As Medicare is slashed by billions of dollars, we must not deny older Americans the choice of adding their own money, if they wish, to get unrationed insurance – as the Obama health law would empower federal bureaucrats to do.

3. Consumers will be denied the choice of plans offered by insurers who allow their customers to spend what state bureaucrats deem an “excessive or unjustified” amount for their health insurance.

Don’t keep us from spending our own money to save our own lives!

March for Life rally marks 40 years of legal abortion in Hawaii

Honolulu, HI – Hawaii Right to Life is sponsoring the 38th annual March for Life Hawaii with co-sponsors Hawaii Family Forum and Hawaii Catholic Conference. The grassroots rally is open to the public and will be held Saturday, January 22 from 10:30am to 1:30pm at the Hawaii State Capitol grounds. The event is held each year on the anniverary of the U.S. Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions, which legalized abortion throughout the United States.

Hawaii Right to Life Executive Director Janet Grace noted that Hawaii was among the first states to legalize abortion in 1970 and that the rally was established annually in the wake of the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973. She remarked, “March for Life will mark 38 years since the U.S. Supreme Court's tragic decision decriminalized abortion through all nine months of pregnancy for any and all reasons. The March was started by grassroots pro-life advocates to protest this affront to justice. We believe that abortion is among the most extreme forms of injustice in America today and that over 55 million lives have been lost in the United States since 1973. That is why it is important to remember these innocent children and bring respect and dignity to their lives."

The theme for March for Life 2011 is "Celebrating Life for Generations to Come." The family oriented event will offer a keiki fun fair with educational activities designed to share the sanctity of life message. Activities will also include a sign waving, music, hula, inspirational messages, and a walk through the Capitol district. For event details, visit HRTL Facebook page.

Hawaii Right to Life is a non-profit organization that advances respect for life for all people from conception to natural death. Founded in 1973, Hawaii Right to Life is the state affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee.
